For those seeking permit on the fly, then the waters of Southern Belize are arguably the finest in the entire world of saltwater fishing. While other species are found throughout the area, it should be understood that the fishing in Punta Gorda is focused on permit. There are hundreds of prime permit flats in the area, many less than twenty minutes boat ride from Punta Gorda Town. Aside from being a fantastic permit fishery, Punta Gorda offers a number of other opportunities for those seeking diversity. The outer reef islands (the Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve) offer opportunities for bonefish and can be well worth the hour-long run on the boat. Relatively untouched and numerous, the bonefish on the outer Cayes average two to three pounds, with six to eight pound fish occasionally found. The rivers of the Punta Gorda region offer seasonal fishing for snook, large jacks, and tarpon. The best season for fishing is between November and July. However permit fly fishing can be done all year around.

We are using boats and guides from the Castellanos family. They used to be commercial fishermen until sport fishing started to boom in Punta Gorda. They weave their knowledge of Southern Belize, its fish and their habitats into their guiding. They will take you to the best local sites for the fishing you desire. On the way to the fishing areas in the Port Honduras Marine Reserve and Sapodilla Cayes Marine Reserve, they will also help you look for manatees, turtles and the occasional travelling pods of bottlenose dolphins.

Price include: Boat and captain/guide, Lunch, water and entrance fees.

The prices include: Local flight from Belize City to Punta Gorda, transport from the local airport to the hotels, the nights in the hotels (2-3 people per room) ,all meals and non-alcoholic drinks for the duration of the stay in Punta Gorda, Entrance fees to the parks, guides and boats (two fisherman for the boat).

All package prices are per person and they include hotel and government tax.

We don’t include: alcoholic drinks in to the packages but there will be coolers on the boat and we can fill them (for the cost of the alcohol) if customers will tell us how many drinks they like to take with them fishing.

Tours can be booked using a Check, Visa, MasterCard and Discover credit card or a bank transfer. A 25% deposit is required when booking the tour. The deposit is non-refundable if cancelled within four weeks of the tour.
